Perhaps in an attempt to cheer me during my sad web host trouble? (still unresolved!)
Whatever the reason, red flannel & grocery shopping is hilarious. Thx AP!

Note : Yes, computer trouble is still happening. My webhost suddenly abandoned all its customers. Stay tuned while I try my best to find NisN a stable home. Peace!

UNIVERSAL CRAFT CARDS.

Learn from the Universal School of Weaving Draft sample cards. It’s not just the beautiful colors and textures of the samples but it’s the so seventies hand lettering and woodcut Universal School of Handicraft seal that makes me love these oak tag sample cards.

Weavers in the Appalachian area worked on their own and often made the tools that they needed from regional materials. During the Craft Revival years, teachers like Clementine Douglas put them in touch with companies and outside resources to encourage weavers to try new methods. These cards published by the Universal School of Handicrafts, Inc in New York City promoted new patterns and weaving information.

Lo! Hello! Please excuse my absence on the internet. I am having a terrible time with my webhost which seems to have abandoned NisN. I can’t access my files, and often NisN is down. Please be patience while I try my best to fix this problem and find a quality webhost. Whatever you do, stay away from JetHost. Bad host!

JACKETS.

Calligraphy, gradients, marbling, photo-montage—it’s all so contemporary!
Displayed here are dust jackets from the 1940s collected by anonymous librarians.

Despite the fact that dust jackets often include useful information about a book and its author, including biographical notes and often a portrait, it has long been Research Libraries practice to remove the jackets from new books during processing for their permanent place in the stacks. However, from 1926 to 1947, anonymous librarians selected and saved interesting jackets from books of all sorts.

O WEAVE.

O weave! My newest completed project are circular weavings. They’re inspired by the book Weaving without a Loom, which I discovered earlier this year. I cut a piece of circular cardboard and voila — a LOOM! Pictured above is my first box loom with a weaving for my friend Carl (who unfortunately has yet to receive his gift, sorry Carl!!) We traded a weave for a credenza. I first used yarn (top) and switched to climbing ropes (bottom two), and so continues my obsession with rope…
