O weave! My newest completed project are circular weavings. They’re inspired by the book Weaving without a Loom, which I discovered earlier this year. I cut a piece of circular cardboard and voila — a LOOM! Pictured above is my first box loom with a weaving for my friend Carl (who unfortunately has yet to receive his gift, sorry Carl!!) FEAST : Funding Emerging Art with Sustainable Tactics

FEAST is a recurring public dinner designed to use community-driven financial support to democratically fund new and emerging artmakers.

This time it’s smart to buy tickets in advance. We expect to sell out. The artists proposals are online. As always, an incredible meal will be prepared by One&Supp and beer donated by Brooklyn Brewery. I’ve talked about FEAST a number of times here & here, it’s a project a group of my friends started. Visiting from LA, Family books is in NYC for Thirty Days. I’ve never been to Family, but am a collector of their artists books. Skip the trip to LA & walk a couple blocks to 70 Franklin St, Tribeca. Three things I am excited to see : 1. Store design by Paper Rad’s, Ben Jones 2. Family artist books/zines in the flesh 3. Shana Moulton & Lucky Dragons screening set on May 6. & the best part, friend/director Matt Wolf has worked on 10 video artist interviews that will be up on Thirty Day site.

It has been the week of meeting internet friends. This weekend WEIRD FRIENDS came to visit (we watched To Sir With Love) and met up with aapc. We did things we do on the internet but in real life. Like looking through old textiles, photographs & books — but at flea markets and with coffee.
And yesterday I met with Cold Splinters who was kind enough to offer me his old
tent in exchange for a burrito & a brew.

Yesterday I took a break from work and walked south in the warm sunshine to the Smithsonian National Museum of Native Americans. See the show, A Song for the Horse Nation on view until July 7. It’s glorious! Animals & bead work equal love.
