Hello! Diner Journal issue #18: Community, Commune, Cult is out! As it happens a big handful of my FEAST friends were involved in this issue, including DJ Art Director August Heffner and mesmerizing cover design by Dan Funderburgh. I was asked to contribute something relating to C,C,C & fashion. Long Haired Men and Short Haired Women features my fave LA cult—The Source—born in the late 1960s and the Oneida Community—which began in the late 1840s. I compare/contrast the Source men and the Oneida women and their progressive lifestyles/hairstyles. (click image to enlarge)

Abandoned denim of Red River Valley. Weird. Red River Valley by Ya Ho Wa 13 is one of my fave songs from psych cult/intentional community—The Source. Listen to the song below. Trippy description of the jeans discovered:

Pair of commercially produced Wrangler denim jeans that were found in the southern Rocky mountains across from Red River, New Mexico in the late 1960′s. The pants had been bleached in irregular patterns by the sun, and had various worn and torn places. After discovery, the Wranglers were embellished with red velour fabric pieces to cover some of the worst structural damage, and with a commercially available embroidered butterfly patch added below waistband at center back.

Hanging on campus, making the scene. I think there needs to be a Dorm Room tumblr, it’s the logical next step after Teenage Bedroom. Dorm rooms are teenage bedrooms when the parents aren’t home.
